Al Hayl Castle

Al Hayl Fort, located in Wadi Hayl, west of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, was built by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamdan Al Sharqi in 1932. This fort served as his primary residence for two decades. Al Hayl Fort comprises a fortified house within a courtyard and a watchtower offering excellent views east and west of Wadi Hayl. It overlooks the old Al Hayl village, where many buildings have been restored. In the late 1970s, the village was abandoned after its inhabitants moved to a new village further down the wadi, near a seasonal stream protected by the Al Hayl Dam.
