Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the main churches in Baku, belonging to the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. After the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the 20th century, the cathedral underwent major reconstruction for several years. In 2001, Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Rus' visited the church, noting its importance for the Orthodox community in the region.

Currently, the cathedral hosts not only divine services but also various educational and charitable programs. Here you can visit a library of Orthodox literature, a Sunday school for children, a catechism school for adults, as well as a charitable canteen that helps those in need. This church is an important center of spiritual life and social assistance for the local community.
