Porto Timoni Beach

Porto Timoni is a secluded beach in northwestern Corfu, accessible only on foot from Afionas or by boat. A green isthmus shaped like a dog's head separates two shores, both covered with white pebbles and washed by clear turquoise water. The rocks preserve traces of an old Venetian fort, and the underwater scenery attracts snorkelers. There is no infrastructure, so visitors must bring everything they need, and the climb back requires care and stamina.

Archaeologists believe Porto Timoni may once have served as a harbor of the ancient Phaeacians. Because of the narrow isthmus, the water on the two sides differs in temperature, creating the impression of two separate miniature seas.
