Surp Nshan Church

Surp Nshan is an ancient Armenian Apostolic church located in the picturesque village of Yeghegis in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor Province. The church is included in the list of immovable historical and cultural monuments of Yeghegis, highlighting its historical and cultural importance.

The domed Surp Nshan Church was built in the 13th century and has a quadrangular plan. Its western walls are articulated with projections adjoining engaged columns with cylindrical sockets. These half-columns are connected by arches that support the church dome. The entrance is on the western side.

The church walls bear no inscriptions apart from the letters marking the hours on a sundial set into the exterior of the southern wall. This adds a sense of mystery to the ancient architectural monument.
