Akhayat Karst Sinkhole. Akhayat, also known as Ashagi Dunya Obrugu, is a karst sinkhole located in the Mersin Province of Turkey. It is situated in the rural area of Silifke Ilçe (district) north of the town of Atayurt. To reach the sinkhole, visitors from Mersin must drive 75 kilometers along the Turkish D.400 state highway, then turn north for 10 kilometers, and finally walk along a 700-meter trail. The distance to the town of Silifke is 19 kilometers.
