Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

Long and elegant inscriptions on the church walls tell about the rich history of this place. One of the inscriptions mentions that Prince Ablgharib Pahlavun built this church specifically for storing the holy relics of the Holy Cross, which he acquired during his journey to Constantinople. The inscriptions also state that night liturgies were held in the temple in anticipation of the second coming of Jesus. Other inscriptions mention the restoration of the church in 1193, during which two watch houses were built for pilgrims, as well as additional changes made in 1291.
