Chirag-gala Fortress

Chirag-gala is an ancient historical complex in the Shabran district of Azerbaijan, located approximately 20-25 km south of the city of Shabran, near the village of Gala-alti. It is situated at an altitude of 1232 meters above sea level and includes the citadel of the Gilgilchay defensive wall, which is located on the southeastern slope of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. This complex has been included in the list of architectural monuments of world significance by the government of Azerbaijan. In 2019, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan declared the territory of "Chirag-gala" and the city of Shabran as a State Historical and Cultural Reserve to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of this place.
