Emirates National Auto Museum

On the outskirts of Al Dhafra, 45 minutes from Abu Dhabi, the Emirates National Auto Museum houses the private collection of Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. More than 400 vehicles are displayed, including the rainbow Mercedes collection, giant off-road vehicles and military trucks, vintage Chevrolets and Cadillacs, as well as unique prototypes and amphibious vehicles. The exhibition is divided into themed sections tracing the evolution of the automobile. Outside the museum, visitors can also see a retired passenger aircraft and take photographs beside some of the collection’s most dramatic exhibits.

The museum displays the world’s largest Ford Mustang, powered by a 6.4-litre, 532-horsepower engine. Nearby stands a giant Dodge Power Wagon, 64 times larger than the original, five metres high and weighing 50 tonnes. There is also a Jeep Willys enlarged fourfold to a length of seven metres and listed in Guinness World Records.
