Kvelatsminda Monastery

Kvelatsminda (Georgian: ყველაწმინდა) is an ancient Orthodox monastery located in the Gurjaani district of Georgia, just eight kilometers from the village of Vachnadziani (formerly known as Shroma). In the 6th-7th centuries, a three-nave basilica stood on the monastery grounds, part of which was damaged by a landslide. Today, the remains of this ancient structure can be seen. At the end of the 8th - beginning of the 9th century, the Kvelatsminda domed church, dedicated to All Saints, was erected here. This church was built of stone and brick and is one of the most significant and artistic monuments of the transitional period of Georgian architecture (8th - first half of the 10th century).
