Saghmosavank Monastery

Saghmosavank is an ancient Armenian monastery on the eastern edge of the village of Saghmosavan in Aragatsotn Province. Built by Prince Vache Vachutyan, the complex consists of four principal structures, including the Church of Surb Sion, a manuscript repository and a large gavit. It was one of medieval Armenia’s best-known and wealthiest monasteries, serving as both a spiritual centre and a place of learning.
