Surp Stepanos Church. Surp Stepanos Church is a historic religious building in the Elar district southeast of Abovyan in Armenia’s Kotayk Province. The church dates from the 16th–17th centuries. Documents by Archbishop Mesrop Smbatyants record that its bell tower was built in 1851. The site attracts visitors and pilgrims for its architectural, historical and religious value.
