Vahramashen Church

Vahramashen Church, also known as Amberd Church, is a historic monument in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province near Mount Aragats. Built in the 11th century beside Amberd Fortress, the church and fortress stand on steep cliffs enclosed by the Amberd and Arkashen rivers. In the 10th century the complex belonged to the Pahlavuni princes, but it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1236 and was never fully rebuilt.
