Al-Ghayl Castle

The castle is located in the village of Al-Ghayl, just 4.5 km from the city of Kalba, and was built by Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Al Qasimi, who ruled Kalba from 1903 to 1937.
It stands on a rocky hill about 15 meters high, creating the impression of an island in the middle of the valley. Low valleys and farms stretch around the castle, and from the south and east sides, there are views of the shores of the Persian Gulf.
The castle is rectangular in shape, measuring 20 by 15 meters, and was built of gypsum and clay. It served as a defensive fortress both on land and at sea, protecting the borders.
