Jebel Buhais Museum

Jebel Buhais is a unique geological site, an extensive rocky outcrop that is also an archaeological site. It is located near Madam in the central region of the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, approximately 48 kilometers (30 miles) southeast of Sharjah city. The area is home to an extensive necropolis where burials dating back to different historical periods – the Stone, Bronze, Iron, and Hellenistic ages, when humans inhabited the UAE – can be found. The burials at Jebel Buhais date back to the 5th millennium BC and are a valuable source of information about ancient customs and rituals. The site is situated on the slope of a limestone outcrop that rises approximately 340 meters (1120 feet) above sea level, creating a spectacular view and attracting researchers and tourists from all over the world.
