Church of Saint Stephen. The Church of Saint Stephen was built in 1865 on Yeşilköy Cümbüş Street in the south of Istanbul by architect Pietro Vitalis for the priests of the Capuchin sect. The official opening of the church took place on April 19, 1886. In 1894, the stone dome of the church collapsed due to an earthquake, and it was replaced with a wooden ceiling brought from Austria.
