Diogenes Sculpture

The statue of Diogenes, also known as Diodgen Heikel, is a monument to the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope, who was born in Sinope, ancient Asia Minor, Turkey, around 412 BC. Sinope, known then as Sinopa, was the birthplace of Diogenes in the 5th century BC. In 2006, the municipality of Sinope decided to erect a statue of Diogenes, created by Turan Baş from Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun. The new monument became a symbol of respect for the great philosopher and his legacy in this historic city.
