Ganja Fortress

Ganja Fortress is a 16th-century historical monument located in the center of Ganja city. It was built by order of Farhad Pasha to house the armed forces that controlled the ancient Ganja fortress, captured by the Ottomans in 1588. Subsequently, during the reign of Shah Abbas and Javad Khan, the fortress was expanded and strengthened. After the city center was moved from the ancient fortress to the Ganja Fortress by order of Shah Abbas, it became the main complex in the city center. The fortress also houses the palace of the Ganja Khans.
