Şişli Mosque. Şişli Mosque (Turkish: Şişli Camii) is a sacred place of worship built in Şişli Square in the Şişli district of Istanbul (Turkey). In the early 1940s, as the city was rapidly expanding, locals noticed the lack of a mosque in the area and began to demand its construction. Supporting the residents' initiative, Istanbul Mayor Lütfi Kırdar sold a land area of 3,219 m² at a symbolic price to the mosque trustees for the construction of this sacred structure.
