Kintsvisi Monastery

Kintsvisi Monastery is an ancient Orthodox monastery located in the picturesque region of Shida Kartli in eastern Georgia. It is situated on the slope of the mountain valley of the Dzama River, just 10 kilometers from the city of Kareli. In the Kintsvisi monastery complex, you can see three churches, each with its own unique history. The main church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas, was built in the 13th century, during Georgia's golden age. Next to it is a small chapel dedicated to Saint George, also dating back to the 13th century. The oldest church, dedicated to the Mother of God, was built in the 10th-11th centuries but is now in ruins. Kintsvisi Monastery is included in the World Monuments Fund list as a site for further research and preservation.
