Church of the Virgin Mary of Nabakhtevi

The Church of the Virgin Mary of Nabakhtevi is an ancient temple located in the picturesque village of Nabakhtevi in Georgia. Built in the 15th century by order of the prominent leader Kutsna Amirejibi, this architectural monument adorns the Cherathevi gorge and is an important object of the region's cultural heritage.

The Church of the Virgin Mary in Nabakhtevi is a complex that includes a narthex church and a bell tower. The narthex church, built of gray hewn stone, measures 14.5 × 9.35 meters and has two entrances - from the west and from the north. Inside the church, you can see two semicircular sacristies and a window in the semicircular apse. A fresco depicted in the church shows the Mother of God - the Holy Virgin in paradise, seated on a throne surrounded by saints. This temple is not only a place of worship but also an important source of historical and religious information about Georgia.
