Momine Khatun Mausoleum

The Momine Khatun Mausoleum, also known as the Atabek Dome, was built in 1186 in the city of Nakhchivan, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Azerbaijan. The architect of this decagonal mausoleum was Ajami ibn Abubakir Nakhchivani. Initially, the height of the mausoleum reached 34 meters, but today its height is 25 meters without the spire, which, unfortunately, has not survived. This mausoleum was built and named in honor of the mother of one of the local rulers of the Ildegizid state, Jahan Pehlivan of the Ildegizid dynasty. It is decorated with intricate geometric ornamentation and inscriptions from the Quran, making it a true work of art.
