Ozurgheti Historical Museum

The Ozurgheti Museum of History is a unique institution that showcases the historical and ethnographic heritage of the region. It was founded on April 1, 1936, and has since become the largest museum in Guria. The first director of the museum was Nicholas Samsonia, who made a significant contribution to the development of its collections.

From 1974 to 1991, the museum was housed in the Gurieli Palace building, which today serves as the bishop's residence. The museum's exhibition features unique collections, including samples of Colchian culture from different eras, artifacts from various periods of the Bronze and Iron Ages, ancient silver and gold items, and coins from different epochs and cultures.
