On June 9 (tentative), 2026, in the villages around Tatev (Syunik Province) and in the town itself, one of Armenia's most unusual and colorful festivals will take place — the Sheep Shearing Festival 🏔️🌿

This vibrant event will introduce guests to ancient crafts, rural traditions, and the real life of an Armenian village.

✂️ The main part of the festival is a speed sheep shearing competition.
And the most interesting part: in Armenia, sheep are still shorn by hand — with special large scissors, preserving the ancient technique passed down from generation to generation.

🧶 The wool obtained after shearing is used to make famous Armenian carpets and handmade items.
