Tsugrugasheni Church

Tsugrugasheni (წუღრუღაშენის ეკლესია) is an ancient Georgian Orthodox church located in the picturesque Bolnisi region of Georgia. It was built between 1212 and 1222, presumably at the behest of King George IV Lasha of the Bagrationi dynasty. Tsugrugasheni has a unique architectural style that resembles other churches of the 12th-13th centuries, such as Betania, Kvatakhevi, and Pitareti, but it is more compact and has a higher dome. Inside the church, you can see exquisite Georgian ornaments adorning the walls and ceiling, giving it a special beauty and sophistication.
