Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium. This multipurpose stadium in Yerevan hosts a variety of sporting events. The arena seats 14,935 spectators, including 107 VIP places, and all seating is covered to provide protection in any weather. The stadium was originally called Dynamo, but in the early 1950s it was renamed Hanrapetakan, meaning Republican, after Spartak replaced Dynamo as the team representing the republic in Soviet competitions. The new name reflected its status as Armenia’s principal sports arena.
