Yerevan Zoo. Yerevan Zoo, also known as Yerevan Zoological Park, opened in 1950 after construction that had begun in 1941. Today it houses about 720 animals representing 125 species. In 2018, the zoo recorded eleven births and acquired nineteen new mammals. One of its principal architects was Grigor Aghababyan. Construction was suspended during the Second World War and resumed after the conflict ended.
