Ancient City of Elaeussa Sebaste

Sebaste (Elaeussa Sebaste, Ancient Greek: Σεβαστή, Ἐλαιοῦσα Σεβαστή) is an ancient city located in the historical region of Cilicia on the Mediterranean coast of Asia Minor. Initially, it was known by the name Elaeussa. Today, the ruins of this city are located in Turkey, west of the village of Ayas in the Mersin Province. A large part of the ruins is covered by sand, making them even more mysterious and attractive to researchers and tourists.
