Dzveli Gavazi Church

The Church of the Mother of God in Dzveli Gavazi is an ancient Christian church located in eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti region. The building is tetraconal in shape with a dome that rises above the center of the entire structure. The exact date of the church's construction is unknown, but based on typological features, it dates back to the pre-6th century period. In the 9th century, the temple was rebuilt and a deambulatory was added. In 1852, the church underwent a major reconstruction. Today, it is included in the list of national cultural monuments of Georgia.
