Georgian Betania Monastery

The Betania Monastery, also known as Georgian Betania, is dedicated to the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God and is an active male monastery within the Mtskheta-Tbilisi Eparchy of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It is located in the picturesque gorge of the Vere River, just 16 km from Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, near the village of Kvesheti.

In the past, the monastery grounds were likely surrounded by a massive wall, but now only individual stones scattered in the surrounding forest remain. One of the main preserved structures is a domed church built between the 12th and 13th centuries in honor of the Nativity of the Mother of God. A small church dedicated to Saint George, built in 1196, can also be seen on the monastery grounds.
