St. George Kari Church

St. George Kari Church is an Orthodox church located in Tbilisi, in the historic Old Town district, at 4 Shavteli Street. The history of this place dates back to the time of Vakhtang Gorgasali (5th century), when the first church dedicated to the Holy Archangels was built here. It was destroyed by the Mongols but rebuilt on the orders of King Rostom around 1640 with a new dedication. In 1710, the church was restored by Prince Svimon. In recent years, in 1991-1992, the temple underwent restoration to preserve its beauty and historical significance.
