Gergeti Glacier

Gergeti (also known as Ortsvéri) is a valley glacier in Georgia, located on the southeastern slope of Mount Kazbek in the Kazbegi Municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti. It is approximately 7.1 km long and covers an area of 11 km². The Gergeti Glacier descends to an altitude of about 2900 meters above sea level, and most of it is situated within an old volcanic caldera where the cone of Mount Kazbek is located.

On the southern edge of the caldera, the Gergeti Glacier borders Mount Ortsvéri, and its waters feed the Chkheri River. At an altitude of 3650 meters above sea level, on the left edge of the glacier, there is a meteorological station that provides weather data for the area.
