K. Marjanishvili Tbilisi Academic Theatre

K. Marjanishvili Tbilisi Academic Theatre is one of the oldest and most respected drama theaters in Georgia, located in the capital city of Tbilisi. It was founded in 1928 by Kote Marjanishvili in the city of Kutaisi under the name 2nd State Drama Theater. In 1930, the theater was moved to Tbilisi and occupied the Zubalov People's Theater building. For outstanding achievements in the field of theatrical art, the theater company was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1958. In 1966, the theater was granted the title of academic, emphasizing its high professional level and significance in the country's cultural life.
