Kobayr Monastery

Kobayr (Armenian: Քոբայր) is a medieval Armenian monastery near the town of Tumanyan in Armenia’s Lori Province. The complex stands on the slopes of the Lori Mountains above the Debed River gorge. Basalt covers the upper parts of the mountains, while dense vegetation spreads across the lower slopes. Kobayr lies about ten kilometres south of Alaverdi and is a convenient destination for pilgrims and travellers interested in this historic site.
