Madatapa Nature Reserve

Madatapa Nature Reserve is located in the Ninotsminda Municipality in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. Situated at an altitude of 2108 meters above sea level, it protects Lake Madatapa, which is one of the key sites in Georgia for breeding and inhabiting waterfowl, including the endangered Dalmatian pelican. Since the beginning of 2020, Lake Madatapa has been declared a protected Ramsar site, confirming its importance for the conservation of biodiversity and the ecosystem.
