Mimino Monument

Beside an artificial lake in Dilijan stands a monument to the characters of the beloved film Mimino. Sculptor Armenak Vardanyan created it from sketches by Ruben Danielyan, and patrons funded its construction in 2011. Three bronze figures are represented: Ruben Khachikyan, an Armenian truck driver; Valiko Mizandari, a Georgian pilot; and Ivan Volokhov, a Russian police officer. Although they never appear together in the film, the monument unites them as a symbol of Armenian, Georgian, and Russian friendship. A small fountain of Dilijan water flows at the center, turning the monument into a pulpulak, a traditional Armenian drinking fountain erected to commemorate important events.

Sculptor Armen Vardanyan developed the monument over a long period, hoping to create a gathering place for both Dilijan residents and visitors where the film's widely loved characters would come to life.
