Temple of Zeus

Uzuncaburç is an archaeological site in Mersin Province, Turkey, where the remains of the ancient city of Diocaesarea or Diocesarea (Greek: Διοκαισάρεια) can be seen. Located in the rural area of Silifke ilçesi (district), Uzuncaburç is 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Silifke and 104 kilometers (65 miles) from Mersin. To visit this place, visitors from Silifke should head north and then east, while those coming from Mersin should take the D.400 highway west to Susanoğlu, where they need to turn north.

The Temple of Zeus, which is located in the center of the site, is a peripteros-type temple and has 36 columns. It is believed that this temple was built by order of Seleucus I Nicator (who ruled from 305-281 BC).
