Upper Karabula Church

The Zemo Karabula Church is a unique monument of Georgian architecture of the 10th-11th centuries, located in the picturesque village of Zemo Karabula in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia. The temple is situated at the confluence of the Chernovodnaya and Whitewater rivers, which adds to its special atmosphere and beauty.

This temple has a rectangular shape with a semicircular apse and is single-nave. The interior space of the church is divided into three parts by columns protruding from the walls, creating a unique architectural composition. The pointed arches between the columns give the building depth and volume.

The facades of the church are decorated with carvings and faced with basalt, which gives them a special charm. The interior of the mouths is also decorated with mixed pile, adding extra sophistication to the temple. On the upper part of the south door, an Asomtavruli inscription can be seen, mentioning Kings David and Kvirike, which adds historical value to this remarkable structure.
