Anemas Prison

The Anemas Prison (Turkish: Anemas Zindanları) is a historical building that was part of the Blachernae Palace complex in Constantinople. The name "Anemas" comes from the Byzantine general Michael Anemas, who was the first prisoner in this jail due to his participation in a revolt against Emperor Alexios I Komnenos. During the final years of the empire, the prison became a well-known place of confinement, where four emperors were held.
