Submarine TCG Uluçalireis

The "Tench"-class submarine, named after "Thornbeck", was built at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and launched on July 7, 1944. This ship was named after a slender representative of the shark family with a long pointed snout and sharp spines at the end of each dorsal fin, found in the waters of the North Atlantic. It was involved in various naval operations, ranging from temperate climates to the Arctic. The commander of the boat was Commander Ernest P. Abrahamson, who brought her into service on October 13, 1944.
