Antiochian Church

Mtskheta Antioch, the Cathedral of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, located in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, is one of the most significant churches in the region. It is situated on the right bank of the Aragvi River, at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. The cathedral comprises several buildings from different periods: a church hall, rebuilt from the nave to the north of an old three-nave basilica, a gatehouse, and a guardhouse. The church's architecture features walls and gates made of square sandstone blocks, as well as a southern wall and the main tower constructed from rubble, cobblestone, and brick. In 2002, the women's monastery of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr was founded near the cathedral with the blessing of His Holiness.
