Samtavro Monastery

Samtavro Monastery is a sacred place that houses the Samtavro Transfiguration Church and the St. Nino Convent. It is located at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers in the city of Mtskheta, Georgia. This monastery is under the jurisdiction of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi.

The Samtavro Church holds many relics, including a part of the life-giving pillar, the wonderworking icon of the Iveron Mother of God, the wonderworking icon of St. Nino, donated by King George XII to his grandchildren in 1870, the graves of the holy kings Mirian and Nana, the relics of St. Abibos of Nekresi (located under the altar table), the relics of St. Shio Mgvime and St. Gabriel of Samtavro, a piece of stone from the grave of St. Nino from Bodbe, and other relics.
