Arakelots Monastery

Arakelots Monastery (Առաքելոց վանք) lies about three kilometres from the picturesque village of Kirants in Armenia’s Tavush Province. This ancient complex has a rich history and is one of the region’s important cultural monuments. Its main church was built in the 13th century and is notable for its architecture and surviving frescoes. A smaller 14th-century church adds to the ensemble. Visiting Arakelots offers a chance to experience Armenia’s religious architecture and historic atmosphere.
