David Gareji Monastery Complex

David Gareja is a unique complex of Georgian cave monasteries, founded in the 6th century and serving as the main religious center of eastern Georgia. It is located in a picturesque area, just 60 km southeast of the capital Tbilisi, on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan. The complex stretches for 25 km along the slopes of the semi-desert Gareji ridge, creating an impressive architectural ensemble.

This amazing complex can be conditionally divided into two parts: one is located in the Agstafa district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, just 75 km from the district center, and the other part is located in the Sagarejo district of the Republic of Georgia. Each part of the complex has its own unique history and architectural features, attracting many tourists and pilgrims from all over the world.
