Didube Church of the Virgin Mary

The Church of the Virgin Mary in Didube is a domed Orthodox church built in the Renaissance-Baroque style. It was constructed in 1884 according to the design of architect A. Chizhov and was subsequently painted by artist A. Bandzeladze between 1979 and 1988. In 2007, the church underwent restoration. It is believed that the current temple stands on the site of an older church associated with Queen Tamar, which has been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt throughout its history.
