Dolmabahçe Mosque

Dolmabahçe Mosque was built in the 19th century by order of Bezmiâlem Sultan and completed by her son Sultan Abdülmecid after the founder's death. The mosque's name comes from its location opposite the inner courtyard gate of Dolmabahçe Palace. From 1948 to 1961, the mosque was used as the Maritime Museum, and then it was reopened for worship after the museum moved to a new building.
