Georgian National Museum

The Georgian National Museum, formerly known as the State Museum of History of Georgia, is one of the leading historical museums in the country, showcasing significant archaeological finds. Founded on May 10, 1852, by the Caucasian Department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society, the museum was transformed into the Caucasian Museum on the initiative of German researcher Gustav Radde in 1867. After Georgia gained independence from Russia in 1918, the museum was renamed the Museum of Georgia in 1919.

The museum is housed in several buildings in the center of Tbilisi, with the main exhibition located on Rustaveli Avenue. The main museum building was designed in 1910 by architect Nikolai Severov on the site of the old building. The building's design incorporates elements of medieval Georgian decor, giving it a unique character and attracting visitors.
