Freedom Square

Freedom Square is the heart of Tbilisi, located in the Mtatsminda district, where Rustaveli Avenue and Pushkin, Giorgi Leonidze, Galaktion Tabidze, Kote Abkhazi, and Shalva Dadiani streets converge. The city administration, the central branch of the Bank of Georgia, and the Marriott Hotel are located here. The main attraction of the square is the Monument of Freedom, erected in 2006. It is a 35-meter column topped with a gilded statue of Saint George slaying the dragon, created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. Getting here is easy: there is a metro station with the same name under the square.

Freedom Square in Tbilisi has always been a place where the history and life of the city intertwine. The fate of the country was decided here, revolutions, demonstrations, and celebrations took place here – the square seems to hold the memory of changes and struggles, becoming a symbol of freedom and the spirit of Tbilisi.
