Greek Church of Saints Constantine and Helena

The Greek Church of Saints Constantine and Helena is located on Kalyonculuk Street in the Tarlabaşı district. The construction of the new church began on March 25, 1856, after obtaining permission from the Tanzimat, and was completed on April 9, 1861, when the church was opened for worship with the blessing of Patriarch Joachim II. This church was built in memory of Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, who became the first Roman ruler to adopt Christianity.

Helena, born in Bithynia, became known for her charitable deeds and pilgrimages to holy sites after converting to Christianity. After her death, she was recognized as a saint by the church.
