Historical district of Dubai

The Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, also known as Al Bastakiya, was established in the late 19th century in Dubai, UAE. This area was home to 60 residential buildings situated along narrow winding streets. Wealthy Persian merchants built the city of Al Bastakiya to take advantage of the trading opportunities and concessions offered by the Emirates government. The district's name originates from the city of Bastak in southern Iran.
