Karenis Monastery. Karenis Monastery stands in the village of Karenis in Kotayk Province, north of the Gyumush Hydroelectric Power Station in the Hrazdan gorge. Historical sources refer to it by several names, including Karenis Monastery, Arakelots and the Monastery of the Apostles Matthew and Andrew. The name Karenis may derive from an earlier name of the nearby settlement. The church and its western gavit survive from the former complex.
